India's own Tablet PC for $35 only | India unveils Apple Ipad replica for Rs 1500/- only
India's cheapest Tablet Computer was unveiled on thursday by Mr. Kapil Sibal, India's Minister for Human Resource Development, [ image displaying the cheapest tablet pc built by students of IIT ]. This touch screen Tablet PC is priced Rs. 1,500 INR or $35 with promises to lower the price further if the R&D efforts continue in the right direction.
The credit goes to students from several branches of the Indian Institute of Technology who have wracked thier brains on the motherboard for this unique device.
Some of the key features:
features basic functions you'd expect to see in a tablet--a Web browser, multimedia player, PDF reader, Wi-Fi, and video conferencing ability. It has 2GB of RAM (but no hard disk, instead using a memory card) and USB ports and could be available to kids from primary school up to the university level as early as next year.
